The SEBI rule
What Changed in April 2026
SEBI's framework for safer retail participation in algo trading moved API orders onto registered infrastructure. In practice, brokers now ask each API user to register the static IP their orders come from, and reject orders from other addresses.
A VPS gives you that fixed address, keeps your strategy running when your laptop is off, and sits in Mumbai close to the brokers' servers.

Why do I need a static IP for algo trading?
SEBI's framework for retail algo trading, in force since April 2026, requires orders sent through a broker's API to come from a static IP address registered with that broker. A home connection usually changes its IP, so orders from it can be rejected.
Which brokers does it work with?
Any broker that lets you register a static IP for API access. Customers use it with Zerodha Kite Connect, Upstox, Angel One SmartAPI, Dhan and Fyers. Check your broker's current rules for how many IPs you can register.
Can I use one IP for several accounts?
That depends on your broker and on SEBI's rules for family accounts. The Algo Desk plan can carry more than one dedicated IP if you need separate addresses.
Do you run or recommend strategies?
No. We provide the server and help you set it up. Your strategy, broker account and trading decisions stay yours.
What if the server goes down during market hours?
We monitor every algo VPS and respond around the clock. For extra safety, keep a second VPS in Delhi NCR as a standby, if your broker accepts a backup IP.
